The Bellwood Foundation
The Bellwood Foundation is a charitable organization engaged in addiction prevention activities. The Foundation promotes awareness of problems related to abuse of alcohol, drugs, food, tobacco, and gambling, as well as strategies to promote healthy options for living.
The Foundation was founded in 1989 as the Gordon Bell Foundation for the Prevention of Addiction. The name of the foundation was changed to The Bellwood Foundation in 2009. The Bellwood Foundation evolved out of the pioneering work of the late R. Gordon Bell, O.C., M.D., L.L.D., who devoted his medical career to the treatment of the disease of addiction. Dr. Bell is recognized as an international pioneer in the treatment, research and education of chemical dependencies. His treatment methods have been replicated throughout the world.
