Penny Lawson, ICADC, ICCS, CSAT, Graduate Addictions Counsellor , Manager, Family Services and Special ProgramsPenny is responsible for Bellwood's Relapse Prevention Program, Outpatient Counselling Services, Intervention Services, Sexual Addiction Treatment Programs, Problem Gambling Treatment Program,Training Services and other process addictions. She also coordinates special programs, including wellness and stress. Penny has an extensive educational background in addiction; she trains professionals seeking to expand their understanding of chemical dependency. She has presented at the McMaster Institute on Addiction Studies, the Justice Department of the Northwest Territories, the Department of National Defence, Pauktuutit, the Inuit Women's Institute, Centennial College, and many community organizations and conferences. She has also made presentations in the United States, Trinidad and Tobago and Antigua. In addition to her work with Bellwood, Penny maintains an active private practice in Toronto. |

Michael Hartmann, MSW (equiv.), RSW , Manager, Continuing Care and Volunteer ServicesMichael completed his MSW at the University of Muenster, Germany, followed by post-graduate training in addiction studies in Lueneburg, Germany. Subsequently, he participated in an intensive year long clinical extern program at Hincks-Dellcrest in Toronto where he focused on Brief Therapy with families, couples and individuals. Michael joined Bellwood in 1990 where he has worked in a variety of roles, including that of Recovery Counsellor, where he provided aftercare services for clients; and Therapist, where he facilitated group and family therapy for the inpatient population. Michael also coordinates the Bellwood Outpatient Counselling department. In 2008, Michael became Bellwood's Manager of Continuing Care and Volunteer Services In 1995, Michael left Bellwood to help establish a treatment facility, the Gwich'in Healing Program, in Fort McPherson, North West Territories. He held the positions of Assistant Program Director and Director of Aftercare during his time at the Gwich'in Healing Program. Michael returned to Bellwood in 1998 as a therapist and has been a dedicated team member since this time. He has also gained valuable clinical and supervisory experience through his work with other community agencies and his private practice. In 2004 and 2005, Michael worked with Native Child and Family Services in Toronto in a consulting capacity, providing clinical supervision to a team of therapists and counsellors. Michael brings a wealth of clinical experience to his position, including an in-depth understanding of continuing care and recovery. |
Mani Alcaide, RN, CPMHN (C) , Manager of Nursing (Acting)
Mani Alcaide has been on staff at Bellwood since 2004 and has worked in the psychiatric field as a registered nurse since 1995. During this time, Mani has worked in a diverse range of psychiatric nursing fields, including addictions, PICU, autism, forensics, core psychiatry, and child and adolescence.
In his role of Acting Manager of Patient Care at Bellwood, Mani oversees the nursing unit and ensures effective coordination between the clinical and nursing teams. Prior to joining Bellwood, Mani worked at a number of mental health organizations, including the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Whitby Forensic Psychiatry, and the Ontario Ministry of Social Services. |
